About Rock of Ages
Foundations

As people living free in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, we:

  1. Desire to cover all ministries of the church in prayer.
    (1 Thess. 5:17, James 5:16b, Luke 11, Mat. 6, Mat. 7:7

  2. Teach the Scriptures as is inspired by God and as the true guide for day-to-day life.
    (Matt. 7:24-27, II Tim.3:16-17, II Peter 1:21, Joshua 1:8)
**this includes personal, small group and public teaching of the Scriptures

Based on this foundation, we strive to:

    1. Be a church that is continually renewed through worship whenever God's people gather.
      (PS 95:6, John 4:23-24, Rom. 12:12)
    2. Develop small groups as the primary means of extending care and a sense of belonging, to the whole congregation.
      (Mark 3:13-19, Acts 2:42-47, I Cor. 12:12-26)
**This includes network cell groups and task groups that are vital for community and ministry, and shaping children's and youth ministries to keep pace with the rest of the church.
    3. Be in touch with the times while remaining true to Scripture, we seek to build community while reaching out to the personal needs of others.
    4. Intentionally plan special events as key opportunities for outreach.
      (John 6:1-15, Acts 2:1-13; 17:16-34: 20:20)
    5. Encourage each person to actively introduce their network of friends to Christ.
      (John 1:35-51, Luke 15:1-2, I Tim. 2:3-4, Rom. 1:16-17)
    6. Place people in ministry according to their gifts and to enable people to serve according to their giftedness.
      (Eph. 4:11-16, Heb. 13:7; 17, Rom. 12:3-8, I Tim. 3_1-10, I Cor. 12)
    7. Follow Christ as demonstrated through a life-style consistent with the Scriptures and by being mutually accountable to one another.
      (Rom. 12:10; 15:14, I Thess. 5:11, Matt. 18:15-20, John 8:31-32)
    8. Manage Church and personal resources in a manner consistent with Biblical principals.
      (Matt. 6:21, Luke 16:11-12, II Cor. 8,9)
** This includes recognizing that we are managers of God's resources of money, time and abilities. To whom much is given, much is required.
    9. Promote and support the participation of each individual in a cross-cultural mission experience, becoming a reflection of our community's racial mix. We strive to support existing inner-city ministries.
      (Matt. 28:16-20, John 20:21, Acts 1:8; 8:4)
**This includes such experiences both at home and overseas, form hosting foreign students, to mission trips.
    10. Strive to meet real needs in the community, responding by giving the "cup of cold water" in the name of Jesus, thus building a bridge for the Gospel.
      (Matt. 25:31-46, James 1:27: 2:14-18, I John 3:16-18)
